about mrs. shingleton
Mrs. Shingleton came to the Brecksville Broadview Heights City School District with 11 years of experience as a special education teacher and supervisor at The Monarch Center for Autism. This is her 9th year with the district. At the Monarch Center for Autism, she taught a variety of age groups from kindergarten through transition aged youth. As a supervisor, Mrs. Shingleton supervised a program for transition aged students in which the students took regular community outings and engaged in a variety of vocation, pre-vocation, and self-help skills and activities. Mrs. Shingleton has a Bachelor's degree in Education Studies from Berea College in Berea, Kentucky. Mrs. Shingleton also holds a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Cleveland State University. She has taken additional coursework towards the Transition to Work endorsement from Kent State University. She, also, has completed her studies to become Highly Qualified in all content area for older students. Additionally, Mrs. Shingleton took the Teaching Reading Praxis to meet the Ohio Third Grade Reading Guarantee. Mrs. Shingleton is a Brecksville Broadview Heights Foundations Grant Recipient for the 2014-2015, 2015-2016, 2016-2017, and 2020-2021 school years. Mrs. Shingleton grew up in southern Ohio and tries to travel back a few times a year to see family and friends. Mrs. Shingleton currently lives in North Ridgeville with her husband, dog Ridley and two cats: Sonny and Luca Brasi.
